Top Firefox Add-Ons for your Anti-Productivity Pleasure.

Firefox 3.0.5 is a pretty good browser out of the box.  It supports the latest web standards, gives you some cool new features, has a more streamlined user interface, and is pretty much the gold standard for web browsers.

Still, we can’t just leave well enough alone can we.  Firefox also has lots of customizability, and if you really want the best browsing experience, you might want to try these add-ons…

A couple of shoutouts.

I just wanted to thank whomever it was at distrowatch.com and tuxmachines.org for linking to my review of Linux Mint 6 – I’m getting a decent number of readers.  It looks like product reviews of Linux-related stuff are pretty popular, so I’m planning on doing some more of those.

Other than that, if you have an idea that you would like to hear me cover, or maybe a particular piece of Linux software you want me to talk about, let’s hear it!  You’re my audience, and I really would hate to disappoint my audience.

I’ve got a few more articles in the works, so stay tuned!

Have Fitts’s with your Linux GNOME Desktop

What would you say if I told you that with a few tweaks of your desktop and panels, you could improve your efficiency and productivity?  Just by adjusting the location of some of your widgets in your panels, and adjusting some of the key & mouse bindings in your configuration, you could get things done a little bit faster.  All you have to do is keep Fitts’s Law in mind.

Democratic Badass of the Week: Al Franken

Since I went to the trouble of writing about Democratic Milquetoasts, I figured I’d better write about their opposites.

This week’s award of Democratic Badass of the Week goes to Al Franken!!!

Nope, I see no signs of Stuart Smalley behavior in Minnesota. Al stood up and delivered a well-earned black eye to Norm Coleman and Minnesota Republicans. Chances are he’s going to win, as of this writing (though Coleman could still pull it off, though it looks increasingly unlikely, knock on wood…) Even if Al doesn’t win, he’s shown enough fight to earn some respect.

Democratic Milquetoast of the Week: Barack Obama

I was originally anticipating giving the first award of this dubious honor to someone like Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi or Alan Colmes. After all, Reid oozes wimpiness, and I anticipate he’ll be earning this honor on a regular basis. As it turns out, fate has demanded a different recipient.

Barack Obama is officially my first Democratic Milquetost of the Week!!! I’m really disappointed in you, Barack. I know that even the pros screw up from time to time, and maybe you got thrown off because you’re moving into a new job and have to learn a new set of tricks, but really, you’re off your game.
