Meta-Press Spook
Are you tired of hearing about three-letter agencies violating your civil liberties? Don’t you wish that you could get them to go through some legal formalities, like GETTING A WARRANT before listening to your phone calls and reading your email? Sorry, I can’t help you there, but if you’ve got a WordPress blog, I can help you thumb your nose at them!
Simply install Meta-Press Spook, and you can get your own sidebar widget for your WordPress blog that contains a bunch of randomized subversive words which are bound to cause amusement to bored NSA snoops! It’s guaranteed to have roughly the same effect as the old M-x spook program from Emacs! (mild amusement…)
Download Meta-Press Spook here.
Warning: I just don’t have the time or inclination to provide official support for this plugin. That said, this one is really simple as far as WordPress plugins go – it’s a single .php file that prints stuff in a sidebar. Getting it working is not that hard.
Anyways, installation instructions:
- Copy the mpspook.php file into your wp-content/plugins directory of your WordPress blog.
- Go to the admin page of your blog, go to Plugins, you should see and activate the Meta-Press Spook plugin.
- Go to Appearance->Widgets in your blog’s admin page, you should see Meta-Press Spook as a widget. Add it to your sidebar like any other widget, and enjoy!
That’s it! It’s under the GPL license, so feel free to hack to your heart’s desire!
